St. John’s University is seeking a Simulation Educator for Nursing and Health Profession Programs. You will educate, coordinate, and integrate curricular simulation and lab activities for Nursing and other health professions.

The role reports to the Director of Simulation and collaborates with nursing and health-profession faculty to align experiences with accreditation standards. Requirements include a Master’s in Nursing, an NYS RN license, and 1–2 years in simulation/skills labs.

Qualifications

• CHSE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

This individual will educate, coordinate, and integrate all curricular simulation and lab activities for Nursing and other health profession programs.

Organizational Structure: The individual is under the direction of the Director of Simulation.

This individual will educate, coordinate, and integrate all curricular simulation and lab activities for Nursing and other health profession programs.

Job Responsibilities

The Simulation Educatoris responsible for planning, designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating simulation-based learned activities for then ursing and other health professions programs.

This Includes, but Is Not Limited To

• Collaborating withthe Director of Simulation and nursing & health professions faculty to create and facilitate all Simulation-BasedExperiences (SBE) of the Simulation Centerandnursing skills labs.
• Facilitating the learning process that creates a safe and supportive student learning environment.
• Educating and teaching students in the simulation center andnursing skills lab as needed.

• Serving as the primary educator for students in open lab srequiring additional support.
• Providing individual teaching and support for students for practice and remediation of technical skills and competencies,as requested by faculty and students.
• Evaluating student performance in the simulation and skills lab in coordination with the Director of Simulation and course faculty.
• Serving as the lead facilitator of orientation and training of all adjunct faculty and standardized patients as needed and overseeing performance and development.
• Ensuring that all simulation andskills labs are set up, torn down,and maintained on a schedule to meet the learning objectives of students.
• In collaboration with the Director of Simulation, confirming that all required simulation hours are completed each semester as per NYS and accreditation standards.
• Engaging in continuing education to maintain certification or seek certification.
• Incorporating International Nursing Association of Clinical andSimulation Learning (INASCL) Standards ofBest Practices and continues to ensure compliance each semester.
• Creating, coordinating, andparticipatingin interdisciplinary educational activities involving the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
• Providing technical support for all equipment within the simulation center and skills labs.
• Assistingwith faculty development, support, and training related to the use of simulation.
• Collaborating with faculty/staff in reporting program activities, standards, accreditation requirements, educational concerns, and achievement of student success.
• Participating in activities to obtain Simulation in Healthcare (SIH) accreditation.
• Maintaining the simulation center and skills labs to meet CCNE and other relevant health professional accreditation standards and site visits.
• Aiding faculty in the development of simulation competencies and evaluation tools to achieve student learning outcomes.
• Recommending and researching the need to service and/orpurchase additional equipment and supplies for the simulation center and nursing skills labs.
• In collaboration with the Director of Simulation,creating and maintaining a weekly schedule that ensures adequate coverage for all simulation and lab activities throughout the academic year.
• Actively taking part in Simulation Committee meetings as scheduled.

Educational Requirements

• Earned Master's Degree in Nursing, or other health professional degree.
• Must hold an unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in NYS.
• CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator) certification preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working in Simulation and skills lab teaching.

Required Technical Skills

• Familiarity with PC and MAC platforms and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipment.
• Familiarity with the Canvas platform.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Intermediateproficiencywith Adobe Suites.
• Advancedproficiencywith Google suite, including Google Calendar and Drive.

Supplemental Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $94,000 - $105,000. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
