Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer for Silicon & Packaging (Starlink) in Redmond, WA. You will own supply continuity, improve quality and cost metrics, and collaborate across design, R&D, materials, and manufacturing to optimize supplier performance.

Responsibilities include evaluating substrates, leading supplier quality initiatives, implementing PPAP, and driving improvements to reduce cycle times and costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience with electronic packaged part manufacturing (IC packaging, package substrates).
• 3+ years of experience in one of: supply chain engineering, supplier development/quality, process engineering, manufacturing, or design engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own continuity of supply and improve metrics for IC packaging hardware.
• Collaborate with design, R&D, commercial supply chain, hardware reliability, materials, and manufacturing engineers to understand part and sub-system design intent.
• Review and approve package substrate fabrication technology, assembly processes, and quality control plans.
• Support procurement to strategically source parts matched with supplier competencies by reviewing supplier processes and quality systems.
• Identify, audit, and onboard new suppliers.
• Define supplier technical and quality requirements based on program needs for NPI and production.
• Lead root cause analyses to resolve supplier quality issues across purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing.
• Define product technical requirements and ensure supplier compliance.
• Implement PPAP with suppliers to enable rate production.
• Monitor qualification and reliability activities at suppliers to meet requirements.
• Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and gaps and drive improvements.
• Provide feedback to suppliers on manufacturing methods to reduce costs and improve yields.
• Set standards for DPPM, FIT, and MTBF with SpaceX and supplier engineering.
• Drive product and process improvements to lower part cost and mitigate supply risks.
• Maintain excellent relationships and regular communication with suppliers.
• Act as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues.
• Collaborate with teams, lead projects, and drive continuous improvement in the supply base.
• Own supplier SPC, yield improvement, and process qualification efforts.
