Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad in Beaumont, TX is seeking a Signal System Technician to join our Engineering team. You will conduct signal system testing, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain crossing signals and related equipment in compliance with FRA and UP standards.

The role requires inspection, documentation, safety adherence, and collaboration with field crews. Candidates must meet FMCSA medical requirements and possess a valid driver's license; upon hire, you will undergo assessment in

Qualifications

Possess a valid driver's license.
Demonstrate ability to comprehend, interpret, reference, evaluate, organize and accurately record both non-technical and technical information.
Proficient in working with print and digital information.
Have computer literacy and basic keyboarding skills.
Display excellent communication skills.
Understand and adhere to safety rules and practice safe work habits.
Communicate effectively in English with colleagues and supervisors.
Capable of working independently and in teams.
Candidates must complete an English assessment before interview.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough inspections of signal circuitry, equipment, and systems to identify problems and defects.
Perform comprehensive testing of signal circuitry, equipment, and systems in accordance with FRA reporting requirements.
Utilize troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve malfunctions in signal circuitry, equipment, and systems.
Assemble and disassemble signal crossing warning device equipment as needed.
Carry out maintenance, repair, and replacement tasks for signal communication circuitry, systems, and components.
Plan, organize, and track information and activities related to signal circuitry and equipment, guiding team members.
Take responsibility for excavation work for installation purposes.
Adhere to company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
Foster positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
Ensure compliance with FRA regulations.
Undertake additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to contribute to efficiency.
