Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad in Oxnard, CA seeks a Signal System Technician to ensure safety and efficiency of railroad operations. You will lead signal system testing in accordance with FRA and UP requirements, and install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain signal and crossing warning devices.

The role requires driving certification during probation, strong computer literacy, and excellent communication. You will work with a team to inspect circuitry, perform testing, and adhere to safety rules

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Proficient in interpreting and recording both technical and non-technical information.
• Strong computer literacy and keyboarding skills.
• Excellent communication skills and safety-conscious mindset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• English proficiency required; English assessment during selection.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of signal circuitry, equipment, and systems.
• Perform testing of signal circuitry and systems per FRA requirements.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions in signaling systems and equipment.
• Assemble/disassemble signal crossing warning devices as needed.
• Maintain and replace signaling components and associated circuitry.
• Plan and track activities; provide guidance to team members.
• Assist with excavation for installation work.
• Uphold FRA and UP safety rules and procedures.
