Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Signal System Technician to ensure the safety and efficiency of our railroad operations. You will conduct signal testing in line with FRA and UP requirements and lead installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of railroad signals and grade crossing devices.

You will perform thorough inspections, troubleshoot, and ensure compliance with railroad rules while collaborating with engineering teams to support reliable rail operations.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid driver's license and a clean MVR record.
• FMCSA medical qualifications must be met.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply FRA and UP specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect signal circuitry, equipment, and systems to identify defects.
• Test signal systems per FRA reporting requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair signal equipment.
• Assemble/disassemble signal crossing devices.
• Maintain and replace signal communication components.
• Plan and track signal installation activities and coordinate with team.
• Adhere to FRA and UP safety rules and procedures.
• Perform excavation work for installation tasks.
