Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking an Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee in Marion, OH. This hands-on program blends classroom instruction with on-the-job training to prepare for Signal Maintainer roles.

Extensive travel, on-call availability, and union membership are part of the pathway, with a focus on safety and operational reliability. Candidates must meet minimum requirements, join the BRS within 60 days of establishing seniority, and obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
• Preference for technical/ Electrical Technology education or related field.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 90 days of hire (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Learn to install, inspect, and maintain signal systems for safe rail operations.
• Perform FRA-required inspections and testing of signal equipment.
• Document inspections, repairs, and installations accurately.
