Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. in Conway, PA invites applications for the Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee. This field-based role trains you to install, inspect, and maintain critical signal systems that ensure safe and efficient rail operations.

The program combines classroom instruction in McDonough, GA with field training across the seniority district. You will learn to bid on positions, join the BRS, and work toward becoming a Signal Maintainer while meeting safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; Class A CDL within 90 days.
• Must pass pre-employment FRA drug and alcohol screening.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and maintain signal systems that are critical to rail safety.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and use testing instruments.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel up to 75% during training.
• Join the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) within 60 days of establishing seniority.
• Perform on-call duties including nights and weekends.
