Job summary

Norfolk Southern in Marion, OH seeks an Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee. Training lasts about 52 weeks with classroom sessions in GA and field work across the district. You must bid on positions, travel up to 75%, and join the BRS within 60 days of seniority.

A CDL is required within 90 days of hire. Successful candidates will perform inspections, install and repair signal equipment, and work on crossovers, PTCTC, and cab signaling while documenting work and staying safe in all weather.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Pass FRA drug and alcohol screening and medical exam.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform FRA-required inspections and testing of signal systems and grade crossings.
• Install, maintain, and repair signal equipment including lights, switch machines, and electrical switch locks.
• Crossing warning devices and interlocking systems.
• PTC and cab signal systems work and documentation of inspections and repairs.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
