Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission - PGC Parks and Recreation is seeking Sign Language Support Staff to provide communication access for participants in after-school programs, summer camps, and recreation classes across county community centers.

You will work alongside program instructors to facilitate clear communication, promote inclusion, and maintain confidentiality about disability and personal information.

Qualifications

• Fluent expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language.
• Ability to present information with accuracy, clarity, and appropriate vocabulary.
• Experience in recreation programs, childcare or education settings preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse age groups and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language support for individuals and groups in recreational, educational, and social settings
• Facilitate communication between participants, staff, and instructors
• Adapt communication style to meet the practical, social, and programmatic needs of participants
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all settings
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth, inclusive program delivery
