The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission invites applications for Inclusion Support Staff in the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation. This part-time, seasonal role supports participants with disabilities in childcare, classes, and events, with placements across Northern, Countywide, and Southern locations.

Ideal candidates have experience in recreation, childcare, or education programs and a commitment to inclusive participation.

If you answered yes, the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation has exciting year-round part-time employment opportunities for you! The Special Programs Division is looking for Inclusion Support Staff! Disability Services supports participants to learn, engage, and have fun in childcare programs, classes, special events, and recreation activities. Work opportunities are available on different days and times throughout Prince George’s County.

Under Title II of the ADA, Program Access supports people with disabilities to participate in classes, childcare programs, and special events.

Ideal candidates will have experience working in recreation programs, working in childcare or education programs, or supporting children or adults with disabilities. Starting positions and pay rates are based on age and previous experience. Please provide examples of experience in your application.

Program Access Position Locations by Team

Opportunities are available at various Northern, Countywide, and Southern Area locations throughout Prince George's County.

• Northern (Laurel, Hyattsville, Largo among others)
• Countywide (Sports and Learning Complex in Landover and Fairland Sports and Aquatics in Laurel)
• Southern (Upper Marlboro, Temple Hills, Ft. Washington among others)

Work hours

Work hours vary by assignment.

• Childcare programs are generally 9:00 am-12:00 pm (pre-school) or 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (Kids’ Care/Kids’ Club) on weekdays.
• Classes and special events mostly occur in the evenings and weekends, although select daytime opportunities are available.
• Program locations and assignments are subject to change based on program needs.

• Support participants with disabilities in accessing and actively participating in recreation programs, childcare, classes, and special events.
• Adapt activities, provide individualized support, and encourage social interaction and engagement with peers.
• Communicate with program staff, supervisors, participants, and families while documenting and addressing participant needs as appropriate.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide professional, respectful, and inclusive customer service to participants with disabilities.

Preferred

• Experience working with children, adults, or individuals with disabilities.
• Experience working in recreation, childcare, education, therapeutic recreation, or a related setting.
• Experience supporting activity adaptations, social interaction, or inclusive participation for individuals with diverse needs.

Working Conditions/Environment

Work may be indoors or outdoors.

May be subject to drug and alcohol testing

Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and drug screening.

This is a Part-time, Seasonal position which does not provide benefits.

All selected applicants must attend mandatory trainings

CPR, First Aid and AED; Inclusion/ Therapeutic Recreation Orientation; Disability Characteristics; Behavior Management techniques; and other designated trainings.
