Position Summary

The Siembra Nebraska Program Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for LCM's Siembra Nebraska Internship Program. The Manager is responsible for program growth and quality, intern recruitment and placement, host-site development and accountability, staff supervision, professional and career-development programming, employer and educational partnerships, program outcomes, budget management, data quality, grant compliance, and continuous improvement.

The Manager leads a year-round strategy that prepares high school and college students for meaningful work-based learning opportunities aligned with their interests and career goals while developing professional skills, leadership, career readiness, and pathways to future employment, training, and education.

The Manager establishes annual program priorities and performance targets in collaboration with the COO and is accountable for monitoring results, addressing program challenges, and continuously improving the intern and host-site experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership, Strategy and Accountability

Develop and implement annual Siembra Nebraska goals, work plans, and performance targets in collaboration with the COO.

Monitor key performance indicators, including applications, intern selection, placements, internship completion, host-site participation and retention, professional development participation, participant satisfaction, host-site satisfaction, pre and post-internship outcomes.

Regularly review program performance with the COO, identify challenges or performance gaps, and develop and implement corrective strategies when established goals are not being met.

Lead year-round program planning, growth, evaluation, partnership development, and continuous improvement.

Establish operational priorities and make day-to-day program decisions related to program activities, intern matching, host-site coordination, staff assignments, schedules, and allocation of approved program resources within established organizational policies and budgets.

Annual Internship Cycle

Lead the annual Siembra Nebraska internship cycle, including program planning, recruitment, applications, interviews, selection, matching, orientation, internship implementation, professional development, evaluation, and program closeout.

Establish annual timelines, staff assignments, participant goals, host-site targets, and operational processes necessary for successful implementation.

Ensure interns receive clear information regarding program expectations, workplace responsibilities, schedules, attendance, professional conduct, and available support.

Monitor intern participation, attendance, performance, workplace experience, and program completion and ensure concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.

Intern Recruitment, Selection and Career Development

Develop and oversee strategies to recruit a diverse pool of high school and college students and achieve established annual participation goals.

Oversee intern applications, interviews, selection, and matching to connect participants with host sites and career fields aligned with their interests, skills, age, educational level, and professional goals.

Oversee intern orientation, career-readiness programming, professional development workshops, mentorship, job shadowing, networking, and other learning opportunities.

Establish strategies to identify and address barriers that may affect successful internship participation and connect interns with appropriate LCM or community resources when applicable.

Promote pathways from Siembra internships to continued employment, future internships, postsecondary education, career training, apprenticeships, mentorship, and other workforce opportunities.

Host-Site Development, Quality and Accountability

Recruit and maintain a diverse network of businesses, nonprofits, public entities, educational institutions, and other organizations to serve as Siembra Nebraska host sites.

Oversee host-site applications, selection, onboarding, orientation, annual agreements, and partnership requirements.

Establish host-site expectations regarding intern supervision, meaningful work assignments, learning objectives, workplace environment, communication, attendance monitoring, feedback, and program participation.

Work with host sites to develop meaningful internship roles and projects aligned with intern career interests and developmental needs.

Maintain regular communication with host sites throughout the internship cycle and address concerns involving placement, supervision, performance, scheduling, safety, or intern experience.

Establish an annual host-site evaluation and renewal process using intern feedback, staff observations, host performance, program requirements, and overall internship quality.

Develop strategies to retain high-quality returning host sites while expanding partnerships into industries and career fields aligned with participant interests and workforce opportunities.

Oversee implementation and communication of the Siembra Nebraska host-site partnership fee structure and applicable fee-waiver processes.

Intern Safety, Compliance and Risk Management

Coordinate with Human Resources, organizational leadership, host sites, and other appropriate staff to support compliance with applicable youth employment requirements, organizational policies, workplace expectations, and program requirements.

Ensure host sites receive and understand applicable Siembra Nebraska requirements related to supervision, workplace safety, incident reporting, attendance, communication, and appropriate intern responsibilities.

Maintain clear processes for interns, families when applicable, staff, and host sites to report workplace concerns, safety issues, incidents, or other problems requiring LCM attention.

Promptly escalation employment, safety, legal, or significant performance concerns to Human Resources, the COO, or other appropriate organizational leadership.

Maintain appropriate program documentation, agreements, and records necessary to support intern and host-site accountability.

Maintain year-round relationships with host sites, schools, colleges and universities, workforce organizations, community partners, and program alumni.

Lead host-site recruitment and renewal efforts in preparation for each annual internship cycle.

Develop school and educational partnerships that strengthen intern recruitment and career-development pathways.

Use intern, alumni, and host-site feedback to improve future program design, professional development, recruitment, and internship experiences.

Support alumni engagement and identify opportunities to connect former interns with employment, education, mentorship, leadership, or future Siembra opportunities.

Contribute program information, outcomes, and partnership opportunities that support fundraising, sponsorships, grants, and long‑term program sustainability.

Professional Development and Partnerships

Develop and strengthen partnerships with employers, schools, colleges and universities, workforce organizations, apprenticeship and training programs, and community organizations.

Coordinate with professional volunteers, employers, and community partners to provide mentorship, career exposure, job shadowing, professional development, networking, and other career‑readiness opportunities.

Guide the development and implementation of workshops and learning experiences focused on workplace expectations, communication, leadership, financial literacy, resumé development, interviewing, networking, career exploration, and other professional skills.

Represent Siembra Nebraska and LCM at schools, colleges, career fairs, employer meetings, community events, coalitions, and other stakeholder engagements.

Staff Supervision and Program Operations

Recruit, onboard, supervise, coach, and evaluate Siembra Nebraska Coordinators, program support staff, and other assigned personnel.

Establish clear staff responsibilities, caseloads, performance expectations, schedules, and program assignments.

Conduct regular supervision and provide feedback, coaching, professional development, and performance management in coordination with the COO and Human Resources.

Approve employee timecards, PTO, and applicable scheduling requests in accordance with LCM policies and established authority.

Oversee program calendars, orientations, workshops, host‑site visits, professional‑development activities, intern schedules, and other operational requirements.

Coordinate with Human Resources and Finance regarding intern onboarding, payroll documentation, timesheets, wages, and other employment-related processes.

Data, Outcomes and Continuous Improvement

Establish expectations and systems for accurate tracking of applications, participant demographics, intern selection, placements, host sites, attendance, internship hours, program completion, professional development, evaluations, and post‑internship outcomes.

Maintain accountability for program data quality and timely documentation.

Track post‑internship outcomes, including interns hired by their host site or another employer, offered continued employment, returning for future internships, pursuing additional education or training, or participating in other career‑development opportunities.

Track host‑site outcomes, including retention, returning hosts, intern hiring, satisfaction, placement quality, and other indicators of partnership effectiveness.

Analyze intern and host‑site feedback and program data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Grants, Budget and Reporting

Ensure programmatic compliance with applicable grants, contracts, partnership agreements, and funder requirements, including deliverables, documentation, data collection, and reporting.

Develop and manage the annual Siembra Nebraska budget in collaboration with the COO and Finance, including intern wages, staffing, program activities, professional development, supplies, and other program expenses.

Monitor expenditures and budget‑to‑actual performance and ensure responsible stewardship of organizational and restricted funds.

Partner with the COO, Development, and Finance teams to provide program data, outcomes, narratives, budgets, and other information needed for grant proposals, reports, renewals, sponsorships, and program sustainability.

Other

Collaborate with other LCM programs to connect Siembra Nebraska participants with appropriate educational, workforce, leadership, and community resources.

Perform special projects and other duties as assigned in support of Siembra Nebraska and LCM's mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Siembra Nebraska Coordinators, program support staff, and other assigned personnel.

Responsibilities include hiring and onboarding, work assignments, scheduling, coaching, performance evaluation, professional development, accountability, and performance management in coordination with the COO and Human Resources.

The Siembra Nebraska Program Manager provides overall program oversight for interns. Day‑to‑day workplace supervision of interns is the responsibility of the assigned host site in accordance with Siembra Nebraska agreements and program expectations.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in workforce development, business, education, human resources, youth development, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and significant professional experience may be considered.

Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, internship or work‑based learning programs, youth development, employer engagement, education, human resources, or related programming preferred.

Three (3) or more years of program‑management experience, including staff supervision, planning, budgeting, partnership development, performance measurement, and program evaluation preferred.

Experience developing relationships with employers, educational institutions, workforce organizations, and community partners strongly preferred.

Experience managing internship, career‑readiness, youth employment, or work‑based learning programs preferred.

Experience with grant‑funded programs, data management, and funder reporting preferred.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
