Job summary

R.P. Lumber in Linton, IN is hiring an Inside Sales Representative for our showroom. This on-site, full-time role involves helping contractors and homeowners choose materials, writing accurate orders, and keeping the sales floor ready.

You will report to the Retail Manager and quote and sell in person, by phone, and by email, run the register, and support merchandising and special orders. On-site work with growth in building materials knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Clear communication and listening skills for customers and contractors.
• Comfort with computers, math, and organized, accurate work.
• Ability to learn BisTrack (POS), Word and Excel and related software.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform essential physical functions (standing, lifting 10–25 lbs, up to 100 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and sales assistance.
• Assist customers and contractors with product selection, pricing, quotes, orders, deliveries, and installations.
• Follow up on orders and resolve service issues with management when needed.
• Build relationships with walk-in and contractor customers.
• Support Outside Sales with order questions, product information, and pricing.
• Enter orders, pricing into BisTrack to generate invoices and tickets.
• Operate and balance the cash register.
• Help with special-order products using supplier catalogs (pricing, colors, sizes, availability).
• Maintain showroom, inventory, and safety; stock and price areas.
