Job summary

R.P. Lumber is hiring an Inside Sales Representative for our Monon, IN store. This showroom role helps contractors and homeowners choose the right materials, write accurate orders, and keep the sales floor ready.

You will quote and sell in person, by phone, and by email, run the register, and support merchandising and special orders. The role reports to the Retail Manager and requires weekend/holiday availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to listen to customers and contractors.
• Comfort with computers, math, and organized, accurate work.
• Ability to learn BisTrack (POS), Word and Excel, and related software.
• Valid driver’s license, driving record, and Missouri Class E license.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical requirements include standing/walking most of the day and lifting up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers and contractors with product selection, pricing, quotes, orders, deliveries, and installations.
• Follow up on orders and resolve service issues; involve Retail or General Manager as needed.
• Build relationships with walk-in and contractor customers.
• Support Outside Sales with order questions and pricing information.
• Learn estimating and material takeoffs for construction projects.
• Grow knowledge of residential, rural, industrial, and commercial building materials.
