Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Shore Power Electrical Engineer to support projects across multiple U.S. locations, including Arlington VA to Denver CO and coastal WA.

The role covers design through construction of shore power systems, protective relaying and power distribution, with travel up to 25% and PE licensure within one year. Responsibilities include producing electrical design deliverables, conducting analyses, staying compliant with NFPA/IEEE standards, and coordinating with clients,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 5+ years of relevant post-education experience.
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineering registration within one year if not licensed.
• US citizenship is required due to client requirements.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 101, NFPA 780 and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Support shore power projects from application through detailed design and construction.
• Perform electrical design for grounded and ungrounded shore power systems and upstream power distribution.
• Develop design deliverables: one-line diagrams, control/relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, conduit/cable sizing, layouts, equipment specs, SCADA and metering.
• Conduct electrical calculations and analysis per NEC/NESC/UFC/IEEE.
• Assist with protection studies, short-circuit/arc-flash analysis and relay settings.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and other disciplines to meet project goals.
• Promote future-ready design and safety for end-users and infrastructure.
