Job summary

Getz Fire Equipment Company is hiring a Dry Chem Shop Technician to service and hydro-test low pressure portable fire extinguishers and support the customer counter. The role includes maintaining the dry chemical room, inventory, and daily calibration of the hydro-tester per DOT rules.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with training provided. Benefits include insurance options, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Education generally equivalent to four years of high school.
• Fire Equipment Distributor Employee license, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Service and hydro-test low pressure portable extinguishers to scheduled deadlines.
• Back-up for walk-in customer counter: greet customers, collect info, write invoices, and process payments.
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies; keep dry chemical room organized.
• Calibrate hydro-tester daily per DOT regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a Monday through Friday day shift position.WHAT YOU'LL DOComplete the servicing and hydro-testing of low pressure portable fire extinguishers to meet scheduled delivery deadlinesServe as back-up for walk-in business at the customer counter, including greeting customers, getting information needed to perform service, writing invoices, and accepting paymentMaintain inventory of fire extinguisher parts and suppliesMaintain cleanliness of parts and the dry chemical room dailyCalibrate the hydro-tester daily per D.O.T. regulationsTake on other duties as assignedWHAT YOU'LL BRINGEducation generally equivalent to four years of high schoolFire Equipment Distributor Employee license, or willingness to obtain oneBasic math skills and the ability to bend, stand, and lift up to 65 lbs.Honest, reliable, and self-motivated, with good verbal and written communication and organization skillsAbility to work with minimal supervisionFamiliarity with, or willingness to learn, D.O.T.
