Job summary

Shoppa’s Material Handling is seeking a Shop Technician to inspect, diagnose and repair lift trucks and material handling equipment. You will verify safety standards and perform maintenance, troubleshooting and parts replacements as required by management.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 2 years’ experience with material handling equipment, and a tech school background preferred. Strong tool knowledge and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Read electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose issues.
  • Perform repairs and replacements on major systems with limited supervision.
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies during all tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair lift trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Read electrical and hydraulic system schematics.
  • Perform engine tune-ups and PMs.
  • Verify equipment meets safety standards and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Use overhead crane following safety guidelines.

Conduct overall inspection to verify the truck is up to safety standards and perform maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting as well as other duties required per management.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematicsInspect the forklift and/or issues that were reportedRepair or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, L.P. systems, power steering, transmissions and engines with limited supervision.Perform engine tune-ups on equipment without supervisionPerform proper PM’s in a timely mannerTroubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems on IC and electric trucksBe able to use all special tools properly.Follows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policiesVerify the equipment is up to safety standardsProperly identify and order all necessary replacement partsUse overhead crane when needed, following safety guidelinesPerform other duties as required per managementHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum 2 years’ experience working on material handling equipment or heavy industrial equipmentAuto, truck or military repairs experience will be consideredTech school graduate preferredMust have mechanic toolsPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:The physical demands and working conditions requirement indicated below are examples of the demands that must be performed in carrying out the essential job functions.Physical Demands:Sitting, standing, and walking (up to continuously); frequent use of computer and telephone requiring repetitive finger, hand, and arm movement; occasionally carry office supplies and other miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds.
