Overview

Shop Technician – Shoppa’s Material Handling, a family owned and operated dealer since 1981, is one of the fastest growing material handling dealerships in the United States. We are an authorized dealer of Toyota Material Handling and provide a comprehensive array of products, services and integrated systems across nine locations in Texas and Kansas City, MO to help customers streamline storage and movement of goods.

Job Summary

The primary function of the Shop Technician is to inspect, diagnose and repair customer lift trucks and various material handling equipment. Conduct overall inspections to verify trucks meet safety standards and perform maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting as required by management.

Essential Functions
  • Read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics
  • Inspect the forklift and/or reported issues
  • Repair or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, LP systems, power steering, transmissions and engines with limited supervision
  • Perform engine tune-ups on equipment without supervision
  • Perform proper PMs in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems on IC and electric trucks
  • Be able to use all special tools properly
  • Follow all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies
  • Verify the equipment is up to safety standards
  • Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts
  • Use overhead crane when needed, following safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as required per management
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working on material handling equipment or heavy industrial equipment
  • Auto, truck or military repairs experience will be considered
  • Tech school graduate preferred
  • Must have mechanic tools

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, and walking (up to continuously); frequent use of computer and telephone requiring repetitive finger, hand, and arm movement; occasionally carry office supplies and other miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds. Continuous use of seeing, hearing, verbal communication.

Working Conditions

Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
