Job summary

Herc Rentals Portage, IN is seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead heavy equipment mechanics, yard workers and utility staff, coordinating maintenance and repair of all rental assets to the highest standards of safety and quality.

You will schedule work, diagnose fuel, electrical and hydraulic systems, supervise tool inventories, manage parts orders, and ensure complete, timely documentation. A valid driver’s license and a general mechanic’s tool set are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Own a general mechanic's tool set and be willing to expand collection.

Responsibilities

• Develop consistent schedules for mechanics and yard technicians.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic and propane systems.
• Operate heavy equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics and pumps.
• Communicate effectively with customers.
• Maintain and audit documentation, timesheets and repair logs.
• Manage and order parts for equipment.
• Keep work area organized and safe.
• Assist mechanics with other duties.
• Assist with service and maintenance record keeping.
