Job summary

Herc Rentals Inc. in Lafayette, LA is seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead our team of heavy equipment mechanics, yard workers and utility staff. You will develop schedules, mentor staff, and ensure safe, timely maintenance of rental and service machines while upholding quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, valid driver's license, and a hands-on leadership approach. You will drive efficiency and ensure accurate documentation and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Own a general mechanic’s tool set capable of supporting a heavy equipment fleet.
• Experience supervising mechanics and yard workers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop schedules for mechanics and yard technicians to perform maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Operate equipment including boom lifts, forklifts, generators, and pumps.
• Communicate effectively with customers and maintain service logs.
• Order parts, supervise cleanup, and maintain maintenance records.
• Support with general service duties and other tasks as assigned.
