Job summary

Herc Rentals in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead the heavy equipment mechanics, yard workers and service staff, ensuring safe, timely maintenance of rental and service equipment. The role requires strong leadership, hands-on technical expertise and the ability to coordinate daily shop operations.

You will manage training, scheduling, parts ordering, documentation and customer communication while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety across the branch

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• A valid driver\'s license is required.
• Own a general mechanic\'s tool set capable of supporting a heavy equipment fleet and be willing to expand it.

Responsibilities

• Develop consistent schedules for mechanics and yard technicians for maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic and propane systems.
• Operate equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics and pumps.
• Communicate effectively with customers in a professional manner.
• Satisfy and audit timesheets, checklists, records and maintenance logs promptly.
• Manage and order parts for equipment.
• Supervise the work area to keep it clean and organized.
• Assist mechanics with other duties and maintenance record keeping.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
