Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead a machining/assembly team on 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will oversee daily operations, coach staff, onboard new hires, expedite production orders, and coordinate with multiple departments to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, blueprint literacy, and strong communication, with a focus on continuous improvement and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred experience in welding, metal fabrication, or machining with ability to read blueprints.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities to develop a productive team.
• Must maintain presence on the shop floor and manage priorities across shifts.
• Excellent communication with shop staff, office staff, supervisors, managers, and executives.
• Able to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining productivity.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to work across departments.
• Commitment to workplace safety and enforcing safety standards.
• Experience with performance management and corrective action plans.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy in logs and reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day department operations, ensure efficient workflow and safety compliance.
• Coach and evaluate employee performance to drive productivity.
• Onboard and train new employees; provide ongoing skill development.
• Expedite and prioritize shop orders to meet schedules and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing processes.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas; address safety concerns promptly.
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement.
• Address production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and regulations.
