Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA seeks 2 Temp Services Foremen to lead on-site ship repair and deck-plate production. Shift 0600-0245pm; travel may be required; U.S. citizenship and CAC/ RapidGate eligibility.

You will supervise 8–30 mechanics, ensure safety, quality, schedule and budget; coordinate with General Foreman; review schedules and assign tasks; uphold CBAs; spend time aboard vessels.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in related field plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience.
• 8 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience.
• Proficient in production processes, quality, and technology; knowledge of contracting and estimating procedures.

Responsibilities

• On-site deck-plate leader for the trade, supervising a team of 8–30 mechanics.
• Plan and project manpower requirements; communicate with General Foreman.
• Review Gantt chart schedules and develop 1–2 week plans for the team.
• Develop daily work assignments and monitor performance.
• Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and safety standards.
• Attend daily production meetings and coordinate with other shops.
