Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking an on-site Foreman to lead a team of 8–30 mechanics and subcontractors in ship repair and production activities. The role requires coordinating manpower, planning daily work, and ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence in a marine environment.

You will review progress with the General Foreman, develop short-term plans, and manage performance while upholding company policies and union agreements.

Qualifications

• BA/BS with 2+ years in related field or AA/AS with 4 years related experience or 8 years shipbuilding/ship repair experience.
• In-depth knowledge of ship repair trades.
• Experience with contracting and estimating procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• On-site deck-plate leader for the trade, overseeing 8–30 mechanics and subcontractors.
• Plan manpower requirements and coordinate with the General Foreman.
• Review schedules and develop 1–2 week plans; communicate progress.
• Assign daily work and set performance expectations for production staff.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and safety rules.
