Job summary

Qualifications

• Typically has a BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or a High School Diploma/GED plus 8 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience.
• In-depth knowledge of ship repair practices and processes.
• Experience with contracting and estimating procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Proven ability to manage people in a shipyard environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a crew of 8–20 mechanics.
• Plan manpower to support Production and Program Management.
• Review schedules and assign daily work.
• Ensure safety and quality on all shipyard tasks.
• Enforce the Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements.
• Coordinate with other shops; participate in daily production meetings.
• Monitor productivity and drive continuous improvement.
