Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms in North Carolina is seeking a Shipping Department Leader to manage all aspects of the shipping department, directing personnel to meet SOPs, GMPs, USDA/OSHA standards and customer specifications. You will oversee daily activities, coach staff, ensure safety, drive process improvements, and collaborate with other departments to meet goals while promoting a zero-accident culture.

This role requires strong leadership and excellent communication across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree with relevant coursework preferred.
• Minimum four (4) years relevant in a supply chain or shipping environment; perishable foods experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, and conflict resolution.
• Strong customer focus with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively up and down the chain.

Responsibilities

• Manage department by establishing procedures and adjusting as necessary to meet shipping schedules, increase efficiencies and meet or exceed budget objectives.
• Oversee day-to-day activities of the department to ensure efficient transportation and storage of materials; safe loading/unloading to reduce contamination/damage.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and/or reduce/eliminate repeat deficiencies; mentor and coach employees.
• Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions fairly and consistently.
• Follow and promote all safety initiatives; ensure PPE usage and a zero-accident culture.
• Coordinate with other departments to meet or exceed location goals.
