Job summary

RRD Company in Buffalo Grove, IL, is seeking a Packaging Specialist on the 1st shift to assist with daily shipping department activities, materials movement, receiving, loading, unloading, and preparing shipments of printed products.

The role requires basic tech skills, familiarity with shipping documents, and safe operation of forklifts and other equipment. You will coordinate with customers and internal teams to meet performance standards and customer specifications.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of Administrative/operational support in shipping/manufacturing operations.
• Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job.
• Have general knowledge of information systems including materials tracking systems, storage and retrieval systems, inventory control systems and reporting systems.
• Must have basic knowledge of technology including computers and software programs.
• Must have adequate oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments.
• Requires strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and coordinate with others.
• Ability to safely operate Powered Industrial Vehicles, required.
• Regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and rarely up to 50+ pounds.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily activities of shipping department regarding materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling and shipping printed product.
• Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples and finished product via Fed Ex, UPS, USPS and other carriers.
• Check goods against shipping documents, pack goods, prepare bills of lading, and attach shipping instructions.
• Receive materials, unload trucks, check against bills of lading and packing slips, maintain records.
• Operate material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks to stage materials and load trucks.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, customer service, and production to coordinate shipping/receiving.
• Maintain organized files and documentation; ensure safety and quality standards.
