Job summary

DJS Manufacturing is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to assist in receiving, storing, pulling, and loading orders for distribution. The role emphasizes accurate inventory control, orderly layouts, and recordkeeping within a fast-paced metal fabrication environment.

Responsibilities include shipping and receiving duties, inventory preservation, and light assembly/kitting. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and strong teamwork, communication, and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with deliveries preferred.
  • Experience with inventory control procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a forklift is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ship and receive items with accurate picking and packing.
  • Drive and/or load/unload deliveries; obtain signatures as needed.
  • Maintain inventory records and organize storage areas.
  • Assist in kitting/assembly of component packages or assemblies.
  • Move inventory manually or with equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack.

Our capabilities at DJS are constantly expanding and currently include CNC machining, full metal fabrication (laser, brake, welding), painting, integrated assemblies and more. Our facility includes the latest in manufacturing technology and equipment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

1st shift: Monday through Thursday 6:00 am-2:30 pm - Overtime on Friday

Job Summary:

Assist in receiving, storing, pulling and loading of orders for distribution while maintaining an organized layout of inventory control with controlled record keeping.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Shipping

  • Fulfill distribution orders based picking lists and/or other order type documents with accuracy.
  • Drive truck to various locations to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
  • Load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of hand truck.

Receiving

  • Verify accuracy of incoming product by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on vendor invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; recording any discrepancies or damage.
  • Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  • Recording information into the computer system to create accurate records.

Inventory/Preservation/Kitting-Assembly

  • Preserve finished products and package for inventory storage.
  • Assist in the kitting and/or assembly of component packages or assemblies.
  • Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including fork lift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  • Sort and store items according to established procedures.
  • Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory control totals using computer.
  • Requisition additional supplies to purchasing department as needed.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.
  • Experience with deliveries.
  • Experience with inventory control procedures.
  • Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
  • Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.

  • Knowledge of fasteners is a plus but not required

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk or hear for 1 to 10 hours a day. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk, squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward. While performing this job the employee is required to lift boxes and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a 55 - 90 degree Fahrenheit environment. Work in a fast paced industrial environment wearing vision protection, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective clothing.

This is a full time position in the competitive and challenging metal manufacturing field. The pay range/rate of pay for this position may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training and/or experience.
