Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily outbound shipping operations in a high-volume distribution facility. Reporting to the Shipping Manager, this hands-on leader will guide Shipping Coordinators and hourly associates, ensuring orders ship safely, accurately, and on time.

The ideal candidate communicates clearly, develops employees, and stays focused on team performance and customer service.

Qualifications

Supervisory or team lead experience in shipping, warehousing, or distribution.
Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume operation.
Knowledge of shipping processes, dock operations, and carriers.
Ability to train and motivate staff and hold them accountable.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

Supervise and train Shipping Coordinators and hourly associates with clear direction.
Assign work, monitor staffing, and adjust priorities to meet deadlines.
Oversee order prep, dock activities, carrier pickups, shipments tracking.
Monitor shipping accuracy and resolve delays or discrepancies.
Coordinate with Operations, Transportation, Inventory, and Customer Service.
Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity.
Enforce safe practices and company policies.
Keep Shipping Manager informed of performance and staffing needs.
