Job summary

Simon & Schuster is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily outbound shipping operations in a high-volume distribution facility. The role emphasizes strong leadership, coaching, and ensuring on-time delivery to customers.

The ideal candidate has experience supervising shipping teams, knowledge of dock operations and carriers, and a focus on safety, quality, and process improvements. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising shipping/warehousing teams in high-volume settings.
• Experience with fast-paced operations and adherence to deadlines.
• Knowledge of shipping processes, dock operations, carriers, and WMS.
• Ability to train, motivate, and hold teams accountable for results.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, and train Shipping Coordinators and hourly associates with clear feedback.
• Assign work, monitor staffing and workflow to meet daily deadlines and productivity goals.
• Oversee order prep, dock activities, carrier pickups, shipment tracking, and docs.
• Monitor shipping accuracy and service performance; resolve delays or discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Operations, Transportation, Inventory, and Customer Service to address issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity; support process improvements.
• Reinforce safe practices, policies, and SOPs.
• Keep Shipping Manager informed of performance, staffing, and concerns.
