Job summary

Wabtec in United States—Indiana—Plainfield is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping operations, supervise hourly staff, and coordinate with carriers to meet deadlines. You will manage material flows, ensure accuracy and on-time delivery, and continuously improve processes to boost efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The role emphasizes leadership, problem-solving, and hands-on involvement in wave planning, inventory control, and documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with 5 years of experience in supervising warehouse/shipping).
Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
Experience in distribution center or warehouse shipping operations.
Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience with WMS/ERP and Oracle systems.
Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily shipping operations; ensure orders ship accurately, on time, and align with priorities.
Supervise hourly shipping staff; train and support team members.
Coordinate with carriers and brokers; manage pickups and deliveries.
Maintain shipping materials, inventory, and accurate system records.
Improve shipping processes for efficiency, safety, and cost control.
Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards; address performance issues.
Serve as point of contact for internal/external stakeholders on shipment status.
