Position Summary
The Shipping/Facilities Coordinator works under some supervision and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of items shipped or received. Perform or assist in warehousing functions. Perform light facilities maintenance, as below.
Responsibilities
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
- Compares identifying information, counts, weights, or measures of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Prepares packages for shipping.
- Prepares UPS and FedEx bills of lading manually or through web interfaces.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- Maintains various records, files, logs, and prepares reports related to shipping or receipts.
- Performs general building and facilities maintenance such as changing light bulbs, HVAC filters, stocking copier paper, replacing batteries, checking fire extinguishers, etc. Coordinates with building landlord or third-party maintenance vendors.
- Coordinates contractor activities in the building such as fire alarm system testing.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of related experience in a shipping and receiving environment, including international shipping.
- Familiarity with Customs documents and use of international online Customs systems.
- Certification of shipments of lithium batteries and other dangerous goods preferred.
- Knowledge of computer-based shipping systems, Microsoft Excel, and web forms.
- Must be able to become forklift certified. Previous experience preferred.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations (adding, subtracting, multiplication) using a calculator.
- Attention to detail and ability to enter data quickly and accurately via logistic systems.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in simple maintenance is preferred.
