Job summary

TekWissen Group is seeking an Import/Export Coordinator / Shipping Coordinator to prepare, document, and coordinate shipments for a biotechnology client in Massachusetts. The role ensures compliance with customs, export requirements, and transportation standards, supporting timely delivery and accurate records onsite in Tewksbury.

You will work with freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams, maintain shipping documentation, and assist warehouse activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of domestic and international shipping experience.
• Knowledge of export documentation and HS/HTS codes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process domestic and international shipments.
• Create and verify export documents (invoices, packing lists, origin certificates).

Summary

The Import/Export Coordinator / Shipping Coordinator is responsible for preparing, documenting, and coordinating domestic and international shipments while ensuring compliance with company policies, customs regulations, export requirements, and transportation standards. The role supports timely and accurate delivery of goods, maintains shipping and export records, and coordinates with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal teams. The position also provides support for warehouse, receiving, and inventory activities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process domestic and international shipments according to customer and regulatory requirements.
• Create and verify export documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, and shipping labels.
• Ensure compliance with export regulations, customs laws, and international shipping requirements.
• Coordinate shipments with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal departments.
• Schedule pickups and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
• Verify shipment accuracy against sales orders, purchase orders, and packing instructions.
• Package products securely to prevent damage during transportation.
• Maintain accurate records of export transactions and shipping documentation.
• Use shipping software and ERP systems to process orders and generate shipping documents.
• Monitor shipping supplies and packaging materials.
• Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, and customs issues.
• Follow company safety procedures and quality standards.
• Assist with warehouse, receiving, and inventory activities.
• Maintain organized and safe shipping areas.
• Meet shipping deadlines and minimize shipping errors and compliance issues.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 2 years of domestic and international shipping experience.
• 0 1 year of general warehouse experience preferred.
• Knowledge of export documentation and customs procedures.
• Understanding of commercial invoices and HS/HTS codes.
• Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, DHL, and freight providers.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and shipping software.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems such as SAP or Oracle preferred.
• Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade compliance preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Hazardous materials shipping knowledge preferred; training may be provided.
