Job summary

LaForce is seeking a reliable Shipping & Receiving Technician to join our Detroit, MI team. This hands-on role includes receiving and checking in hardware, doors, frames, and specialty products, with labeling and palletizing tasks to ensure smooth project flow.

First shift, Monday–Friday, with no nights or weekends. Responsibilities include operating a forklift, managing shipping logistics (UPS), re-keying locks, and processing customer billings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience shipping or receiving products.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Pass drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check in a variety of items, including hardware, doors, frames, and specialty products.
• Label and separate hardware according to job‑specific receiving sheets.
• Palletize, shrink wrap, and stage materials for upcoming jobs.
• Operate a forklift and handle shipping logistics, including UPS hardware processing.
• Re‑key locks, cut and stamp keys.
• Manage returns, process pick lists and bill of ladings using our computer system.
• Coordinate the daily truck schedule and assist with occasional deliveries.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, organized and willing to jump right in – ideally, with a high school diploma or GED, and some experience shipping or receiving products. You should feel comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and moving frequently throughout your shift, and experience operating a forklift (or willing to be trained). Additionally, we value a willingness to learn and adapt, including becoming proficient with LaForce software and computer systems to help streamline operations. You’ll need to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable record is also required.
