Job summary

Armada Inc. in California is seeking a Shipfitter to lay out, fabricate and assemble steel structures for ships, reading blueprints and following detailed drawings. The role involves on-board work or shipyard environments with focus on safety, quality and teamwork.

The position requires reading of technical drawings, usage of shop tools, and the ability to work overtime as needed in a fast-paced setting. Prior experience with steel structures and boilerplate work is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• Experience with steel, aluminum and/or stainless steel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
• Lay out, fabricate and brace metal structural parts.
• Position parts in hull of ship and align components for welding.
• Prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts.
• Keep work areas clean and organized; report unsafe conditions.
