Job summary

Hornblower is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader to oversee the daily activities of the maintenance crew aboard our vessels. You will provide technical guidance, delegate tasks, and monitor performance to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.

You will implement preventive maintenance, develop work orders, mentor staff, and coordinate with other departments to minimize disruption while upholding HELM SOPs and the company RESPECT values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
• 3–5 years hands-on maintenance experience, with 1–2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong leadership and team coordination abilities; mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems proficiency; problem-solving skills; strong communication and organizational skills; CMMS proficiency.
• Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
• Physical ability to work in varied environments, including lifting, climbing, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians to ensure timely task completion.
• Safety First. Be an active advocate of the Safety Culture and ensure safety is the highest priority.
• Demonstrate knowledge of shipboard safety procedures and equipment locations.
• Implement and monitor Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Develop work orders and issue maintenance and repair assignments.
• Monitor completion of tasks by Company personnel and outside contractors.
• Maintain machinery history and records.
• Sail as watch Chief Engineer if required.
• Understand and comply with HELM operating procedures.
• Assign work orders, monitor progress, and ensure maintenance activities are carried out effectively.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to maintenance personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, SOPs, and company policies.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs.
• Support preventive maintenance scheduling.
• Mentor and train team members to enhance skills.
• Coordinate maintenance with other departments to minimize disruptions.
• Assist with resource planning, performance reviews, and project execution.
• Uphold the Company's RESPECT Values and Code of Conduct.
