Job summary

Hornblower Corp seeks an experienced vessel captain to lead onboard operations, supervise crew, and ensure safe navigation and passenger safety. You will oversee maintenance, training, and compliance with USCG and company policies on a Coast Guard-inspected passenger vessel.

The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic maritime environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a 100-TON Master Inland or higher license.
  • TWIC, First Aid/CPR.
  • Marine Radio Operator Permit.
  • Detail oriented with strong situational awareness.
  • Strong radar and navigation skills.
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safe, efficient operation and navigation of the vessel in all weather.
  • Ensure proper manning in accordance with COI and passenger counts.
  • Train crew and ensure compliance with USCG and company policies.
  • Document maintenance tasks and report findings in the Wheel-House Software.
  • Conduct safety drills and maintain security protocols.
  • Lead daily briefings and enforce crew etiquette and policies.
  • Ensure adherence to all Coast Guard and regulatory requirements.
  • Report accidents or incidents promptly and completely.
