Job summary

Virgin Voyages seeks a Training & Development Manager to own the shipboard learning and development program, diagnose capability gaps, build targeted learning, and lead the Certified Trainer program for Crew across the vessel.

You will ensure engaging, just-in-time development for a global crew, aligning with fleet standards while collaborating with shoreside Learn & Grow and the People Director.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in learning and development or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in LD/HR.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles; just-in-time learning.
• Strong needs analysis and diagnostic abilities.
• Proficiency with LMS and talent management systems.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Detail-oriented and well organized.
• STCW certificates as required.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day delivery and effectiveness of ship’s learning and development.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Training & Development Specialist.
• Establish a clear learning plan and calendar aligned with priorities.
• Build Crew and leadership capability through targeted development.
• Facilitate learning programs and experiences for Crew and leaders.
• Own Crowd and Crisis Management certifications and HR compliance learning.
• Evaluate learning effectiveness and shipboard maturity against standards.
• Partner with the People Director and shoreside Learn & Grow to review priorities.
• Deploy enterprise and fleet learning programs and guidance.
• Maintain strong relationships with department leaders and understand operations.
• Conduct learning needs analyses and report findings to shoreside Learn & Grow.
• Provide shipboard feedback to improve enterprise programs.
• Maintain Certified Departmental Trainer program and accountability.
• Support new leaders during their first 90 days onboarding.
• Train and coach onboard facilitators and maintain standards.
• Promote learning opportunities and digital learning across the ship.
