Job summary

Serco Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking an Electrical Tradesman to join a hands-on team responsible for cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations aboard naval ships and military installations.

You will assemble electromechanical assemblies, read blueprints, and use power tools in a demanding environment. The role requires OSHA 10, US citizenship, and DoD Secret clearance eligibility, with willingness to work second shift and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
• US Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain access to shipyards and pass background/drug screening.
• OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years shipboard experience installing electronic equipment.
• Ability to use power tools and assemble both large and intricate assemblies.
• Ability to read blueprints, assembly drawings and sketches.
• Respirator qualification and PPE usage.
• Willingness to work second shift and overtime.
• Ability to work in hot spaces, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and disassemble large shelters, complex subassemblies, chassis and mechanical parts.
• Review modification and rework instructions or discrepancy reports, engineering change orders and preliminary rework notices.
• Modify or rework mechanical assemblies by removing, repairing and replacing parts, cables or harnesses.
• Operate various power tools used in the assembly of all types of hardware as identified on the supplied parts lists.
• Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
• Perform work with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation and the like and with equipment.
• Work with blueprints, assembly drawings and sketches in completing a wide variety of assembly and subassembly tasks.
