Job summary

Serco Inc. in Newport News, VA is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to support U.S. Navy programs, performing electrical work, testing, and troubleshooting aboard ships and marine equipment.

You will gather records, read drawings, and ensure safety and QA compliance; travel up to 10% to various sites and obtain DoD secret clearance; OSHA 10 and respirator qualification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance.
• Ability to access shipyards and pass background and drug screening.
• OSHA 10 certification desired.
• Respirator qualification and PPE use required.
• Experience in electrical work aboard ships or related environments.
• Two years combined experience in fiber optic attachment, RJ-45, DB connectors; reading drawings (Tradesman level).
• Safety program implementation and QA testing experience.
• Ability to read drawings and lay out cable runs under decking; lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and correct malfunctions.
• Conduct various tests or experiments and operate standard test equipment; record test data.
• Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Gather and maintain records of engineering data; compute and plot data.
• Perform routine tests and operate test equipment; record data.
