Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to support U.S. Navy ships from our Chesapeake, VA location.

The role focuses on troubleshooting, electrical work, data recording, and test execution in shipboard environments. Candidates should be able to obtain DoD Secret clearance and OSHA 10 certification, with a background in electrical systems and safety practices. Responsibilities include wiring, reading drawings, QA testing, space closeouts, and working in high heat spaces.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• Ability to access NAVSTA/DBIDS, background check and drug screening.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Respirator qualification and PPE usage.
• Experience in electrical work and shipboard environment.
• 2+ years in attaching fiber optic, RJ-45, DB connectors.
• Read drawings (Tradesman level).
• QA testing, space closeouts.
• Layout/mounting of electrical enclosures and test wiring.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
• Test setups and procedures with standard equipment; record data.
• Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Maintain records of engineering data and test results.
• Conduct tensile or hardness tests and related testing activities.
