Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to support U.S. Navy shipboard electrical systems in Newport News, VA. You will work with a team to perform troubleshooting, testing, and electrical assembly on ships and marine equipment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electrical work, ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance, and experience reading drawings and wiring layouts. Travel up to 25% to various work sites may be required; safety and QA disciplines are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Ability to obtain and access NAVSTA & DBIDS shipyards, pass background check and drug screening.
• OSHA 10 certification and respirator qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and correct malfunctions on shipboard systems.
• Conduct tests and experiments, set up test setups and record data.
• Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Gather and maintain engineering data, read drawings, and plot data.
• Perform routine tests and operate simple test equipment.
