The role emphasizes safe engineering practices, collaboration with designers and technicians, and delivering engineering changes and analyses for ship systems.

Candidates should have an ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, familiarity with Windows and CAD tools, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
• Windows software proficiency; CAD (CATIA or AutoCAD) skills desirable.
• Must be a US citizen able to obtain a government security clearance (interim clearance within 45 days).
• Engineer I: 0–1 year, Engineer II: 1–2 years, Engineer III: 3+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Safety leadership and compliance with BIW safety standards.
• Manage activities related to DDG 51 and DDG(X) class systems and equipment.
• Develop and maintain equipment specifications, diagrams, and calculations.
• Interface with customers to resolve technical issues; coordinate with procurement as needed.
• Create CAE models to simulate ship system designs and perform analyses.
• Provide technical leadership to interfacing teams and foster cross-functional collaboration.
• Engage NAVSEA and stakeholders to promote BIW capabilities and business development.
