Job description

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position designed to prepare employees for higher supervisory roles such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. Trainees perform tasks as directed to develop supervisory skills, complete basic management and operations training, and learn key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and understanding CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are considered for promotion to open supervisory positions. These roles support store management in executing store operations and enhancing performance while focusing on excellent customer service. When no manager is onsite, the supervisor leads the staff, ensures smooth operations, and completes opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions:

1. Management

• Work effectively with store management and staff
• Supervise store staff by assigning, directing, and following up on activities
• Communicate effectively with management and staff

Customer Service

• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints
• Promote CVS customer service culture (greet, offer help, thank)
• Handle customer relations issues per company policy, ensuring a positive shopping experience
• Maintain customer/patient confidentiality

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in retail preferred
• Strong deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed
