Job summary

Project Hospitality is seeking a Shift Supervisor for The Richmond shelter in Staten Island, NY. You will oversee residential aides and families, ensuring safety, access control, and program compliance during the evening shift.

The role requires a high school diploma (Bachelor's preferred) and a food handlers license. Experience with homelessness is a plus; strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, screen, and oversee all families assigned to the shelter.
• Ensure access control, safety, and security for families.
• Collaborate with case management to address family needs.
• Assist families in developing ADL skills and housekeeping.
• Oversee unit inspections and documentation.
• Supervise food service in the kitchen and manage waste documentation.
• Ensure adherence to program and shelter rules by families.
• Conduct wellness checks and respond to health needs.
• Complete incident reports in AWARDS and DHS CARES systems.
• Work with and supervise Resident Aides; perform other duties as assigned by Shelter Director.

• Responsible for oversight of residential aides and families assigned to the shelter.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, screens, and oversees all families assigned to the shelter.
• Responsible for access control, safety and security of all families assigned to the shelter.
• Works closely with the case management staff to meet the needs of the families.
• Assists families in developing their ADL skills, housekeeping as needed.
• Oversight and completion of unit inspections and documentation.
• Monitor and Supervise food service in the kitchen for the families.
• Ensure removal of trash from the kitchen and documenting food discarded.
• Monitor families for adherence to program and hotel rules.
• Complete wellness checks and respond to family health and mental health needs as needed.
• Complete incident reports in AWARDS and DHS CARES system.
• Works collaboratively with and supervises the Resident Aides.
• Any other duties assigned by the Shelter Director.

Qualifications

• Position requires a High School Diploma but a bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred.
• Position also requires a food handlers license.
• Previous experience with the homeless population and/or comparable experience in a relative field is a plus.
• Needs ability to establish workload priorities and balance diverse caseload.
• Must have exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing with individuals and groups regarding complex and sensitive issues or regulations.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions are needed.
• Shift Supervisor shall perform any duties as required to meet the new needs of the program and the clients we serve.
