Job summary

Huck’s Market in Decatur, IL, is seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee shifts, ensure customer service excellence, and support Store Manager in daily operations. The role includes managing scheduling, cash handling, and store compliance while guiding a team through merchandising, safety, and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Gives all customers prompt and courteous service, including greeting customers via the gasoline intercom and adhering to Best In Class standards
• Observes shift operating hours as assigned by the Store Manager and helps fill shifts
• Works the store manager's days off and at least two evening shifts per week
• Performs tasks as assigned by the Store Manager
• Communicates effectively with store associates and management
• Follows federal, state, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to store operation
• Serves as a role model of conduct for associates
• Ensures Store Manager is aware of sales, cash, or operating discrepancies
• Ensures associates wear proper uniform and provide prompt, courteous service
• Completes a shift change report at the beginning and end of the shift according to policy
• Records all hours worked by clocking in/out on the computer
• Rings all sales as per Policy Manual and Basic Training Manual
• Accurately records all over rings and refunds
• Completes daily paperwork and makes store deposits as directed by the Store Manager
• Treats all associates with dignity and respect using proper personnel management techniques
• Advises Store Manager of personnel situations or policy violations affecting store performance
• Ensures all associate shift procedures are followed
• Maintains a safe shopping and working environment
• Ensures cash and merchandise handling is secure per policy
• Ensures vendor check-in procedures are followed
• Keeps coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays stocked and fronted
• Maintains equipment and prepares high-margin products as directed
• Uses correct pricing as listed on the DSD or grocery book for all merchandise
• Ensures store appearance reflects company standards
• Keeps floors clean, waxed and polished
• Keeps store windows and glass clean
• Sweeps parking lot daily
• Keeps rest rooms clean and functional
• Reports maintenance problems to the Store Manager
• Ensures food service areas are clean and sanitation procedures followed
• Follows lifting procedures and ladder safety per policy
• Uses wet floor signs as required
• Reports accidents promptly to store manager and corporate office
• Actively promotes Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app and assists customers with sign-up and redemption
• Monitors transactions to prevent misuse of points or discounts
