Job summary

Caribou Coffee in Minot, North Dakota, seeks a Shift Leader to run daily operations in partnership with store leadership. You’ll ensure brand standards, oversee duties, and coach the team to deliver friendly service, accurate orders, and a clean, welcoming cafe.

You’ll schedule, handle cash and deposits, manage waste, train new hires, and keep the store safe while driving sales and guest connections. The role requires 6 months in a leadership role and flexibility to work different shifts.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of leadership experience or properly trained and approved to take Shift Leader responsibilities.
• Shift Leaders must maintain flexible availability to support business needs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates mastery of every Team Member responsibility with confidence, enthusiasm, and excellence.
• Leads shifts with an unwavering commitment to Make Fun Happen — keeping the team engaged, the energy up, and the shift on track.
• Optimizes product sales while effectively managing waste and maintaining an inviting, well- executed coffeehouse environment.
• Knows the day’s deployment and the roles tied to it, communicating clearly on the floor to keep the shift moving.
• Reads the needs of the team, anticipates the shift's competing priorities, and delegates objectives and tasks accordingly.
• Takes ownership of the current shift and sets up a smooth hand-off for the shift that follows.
• Ensures the team executes standard operating procedures and upholds Caribou's standards for quality, cash handling, and store safety and security.
• Coaches and trains the team in the moment — on role responsibilities, product knowledge, promotions, and recipe prep, including adjustments for a guest's request.
• Performs administrative tasks timely with integrity and follow-through, including bank deposits, inventory, and product orders.
• Actively develops Team Members, providing coaching and feedback in the moment.

• Owns the decision-making that comes with being Manager on Duty, staying resilient and calm under pressure.
