Job summary

McMarro Family Restaurants Oxnard, CA is seeking a Shift Leader to support the GM and AM in operating a profitable restaurant while upholding Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC). The Shift Leader will lead crew during shifts, plan for each shift, monitor performance, and ensure safety and profitability.

You will train staff, address performance issues, and communicate with leadership to meet targets. This full-time role offers growth opportunities within the restaurant group.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license or reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to relocate to other restaurants in the organization if needed.
  • Flexible schedule across all dayparts and weekends.
  • Serve Safe certification (training provided).
  • Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Willingness to learn administrative tasks such as scheduling, ordering, and inventory.
  • Ability to lead projects with a can-do attitude.

Description

The Shift Leader (SL) supports the General Manager (GM) and Assistant Manager (AM) in running a profitable restaurant, ensuring that the restaurant meets the company’s critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC) during their shift. The Shift Leader is a partner to the AM and GM in achieving business objectives by offering ideas that remove barriers to success. Responsibilities include executing administrative tasks delegated to them such as inventories and schedules, and sharing accountability for the overall results of the restaurant.

  • Provide leadership to crew and other managers during a shift to ensure high-quality service and cleanliness.
  • Plan for each shift, monitor performance, and take action to meet company standards.
  • Monitor safety, security, and profitability, and communicate with the next Shift Manager to prepare the team for a successful shift.
  • Assist in meeting targets during shifts and help the restaurant meet its goals.
  • Work as a role model for the company’s policies, culture, and values.
  • Show respect for others and sensitivity to cultural and generational differences.
  • Create a positive and welcoming environment for all restaurant employees and guests.
  • Motivate team members through positive feedback, encouragement, and inclusion.
  • Communicate difficult or sensitive issues to the GM, AM, or Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Support the GM and AM in training all employees and addressing performance issues with coaching, counseling, or conflict management.
  • Follow the company’s tools, resources, and processes to prevent work‑related injuries and customer accidents.
  • Ensure employees receive breaks in accordance with policy.
  • Maintain composure within fast‑paced and stressful environments.
  • Handle pressure and uncertainty with ease, displaying a can‑do attitude and sense of optimism.
  • Embrace change and focus on solutions rather than obstacles.
Qualifications
  • Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Capable of performing job duties satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Possess a can‑do attitude and the initiative to lead projects.
  • Willingness to learn administrative tasks such as scheduling, ordering, and inventory.
  • Flexible schedule with availability across all three dayparts (morning, afternoon, night) and weekends.
  • Full‑time employment as required by the restaurant.
  • Serve Safe certification (training provided).
  • At least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to relocate to other restaurants in the organization if a business need or career growth opportunity arises.
