Role Overview

The Shift Leader manages and develops associates to ensure outstanding product quality and customer service, build sales, and control costs during each shift, aligning with Potbelly values.

Qualifications

• Friendly, customer service-oriented attitude
• Strong communication skills
• Problem-solving ability
• Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment
• Manage potential allergens
• Knife skills are a plus
• At least 18 years old
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred
• Able to stand/walk for 8-9 hours
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Food safety certification within 30 days (Illinois-specific requirements apply)

Job Duties

• Lead team members, assign tasks, provide feedback
• Follow security procedures
• Meet back-of-the-house standards
• Handle cash and count drawers
• Prepare food items efficiently
• Maintain health and safety standards
• Restock supplies
• Clean and maintain the premises
• Operate cash register and handle customer complaints
• Other duties as assigned

All Shift Leaders and Managers must pass a Food Safety Certification course through the appropriate state or national agency. Failure to pass after two attempts disqualifies continued employment in management roles.
