Job Summary

Banfield seeks a full‑time Shift Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for its Rock Hill, SC location (1110 Hospitality Dr, Rock Hill, SC 29730). The role involves managing hospital operations, staff, client communications, financial processes, and ensuring the highest quality of client and pet care.

Compensation

Pay range: $23.43 – $33.84 per hour. A sign‑on bonus may be offered for this location, based on experience, skill level, education, and location.

Responsibilities
  • Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care, and pet health needs.
  • Manage routing of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team.
  • Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times, including welcoming clients and pets, ensuring their comfort, educating them about their pet's health, performing preparatory procedures that do not require a veterinarian, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets.
  • Assist in veterinary technician appointments under supervising veterinarian’s direction and in compliance with state law.
  • Assist incoming clients by completing required documentation, entering pet information and history, using proper collars and tags, and ensuring prompt service.
  • Assist outgoing clients by providing instructions, invoices, dispensing prescription items, selling retail products, and scheduling future appointments.
  • Manage finances by maintaining accurate balances and using proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Serve as the extra eyes, ears, and hands for the veterinarian, ensuring quality pet care, maximizing productivity, and communicating with associates to maintain patient flow.
  • Obtain and maintain relevant client and medical history records.
  • Ensure safety of pets, clients, and associates by using safe restraining techniques, following protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Assist with surgery as applicable.
  • Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates.
  • Quality check medical records, medications, regulatory documentation, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing exam‑room patients.
  • Utilize technical skills within state practice acts regarding duties of credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Conduct administrative functions as necessary.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Assist Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive hospital team that provides the highest quality care and service to the most pets and clients, following all Banfield protocols and practices, as well as all local, state and federal laws.
  • Support Practice Manager in hospital labor management.
  • Assist Practice Manager in the selection, training, and day‑to‑day supervision of the paraprofessional team.
  • Assist Practice Manager in creating an environment where a team can deliver quality, efficient and effective veterinary care to pets.
  • Provide effective communication between associates, clients, hospital leadership and Central Team Support.
  • Ensure all hospital associates adhere to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
  • Prepare whole team on cases scheduled for the day, assist with any transfers of cases from day before or external referrals to provide continuity of care, triage the treatment board.
  • Assist Practice Manager in identifying potential “bottlenecks” and formulating solutions to remove barriers in medical operations that would impede the doctors in providing world‑class preventive care and client service.
  • Confere with field leadership and assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments and client experience exceptions.
  • Address broken equipment issues and assist in inventory management.
  • Assist with management of finances by maintaining accurate balances and utilizing proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Quality check medical records, go‑home medications, regulatory documentation, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing exam‑room patients.
Qualifications
  • Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) based on state requirements.
