Overview

Banfield’s mission is to provide high‑quality preventive care to pets and their owners through a team‑based approach. As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, you will work with veterinary experts to deliver exceptional care, support client satisfaction, and develop your professional growth.

Role Responsibilities

• Recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, wellness plans, and preventive care.
• Manage client and pet flow to ensure superior care and productive use of the veterinary team.
• Provide professional, efficient service: welcome clients, educate them, perform tasks that do not require veterinarian assistance, prepare procedures, and monitor hospitalized or surgical pets.
• Under veterinarian supervision, perform veterinary technician appointments in compliance with state law.
• Complete required documentation, enter patient data, use proper identification tags, and provide instructions and invoices to outgoing clients.
• Manage finances, maintain accurate balances, and observe opening and closing procedures.
• Support the veterinarian with quality pet care and maximize productivity while communicating with associates to maintain patient flow.
• Obtain accurate client and medical history and maintain complete medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients, and staff using safe restraining techniques and maintaining clean, sterile, organized treatment areas.
• Assist with surgery when required.
• Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates.
• Quality-check medical records, medications, regulatory documents, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of care.
• Perform administrative functions as necessary.
• Assist the Practice Manager with team efficiency, labor management, and day‑to‑day supervision of the paraprofessional team.
• Help build an environment that delivers quality, efficient, and effective veterinary care.
• Ensure collaborators adhere to dress and grooming guidelines.
• Prepare the team on scheduled cases, triage treatment boards, and document transfers.
• Identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and support operational improvements.
• Assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician certification or licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT).
• Preferably an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary technology program.
